I'll never forget the look on families' faces during vacation home installations. When I'd arrive, everyone would be laughing, talking, enjoying each other. By the time I left after setting up their wifi? Dead silent. Every single person glued to their phone.
That was my life for nearly 15 years—bringing internet to homes and businesses across Menorca as a wireless and fiber installation specialist. I loved it. Knowing I was connecting people to the world, exploring every corner of this beautiful island, meeting all kinds of people. Everyone wants to be friends with the guy who installs the internet, right?
But after almost 15 years of the same thing, I needed a change.
I made what seemed like a logical leap: I'm an IT guy, so cybersecurity should be easy, right? Wrong. So incredibly wrong.
I shut down my first company and dove into cybersecurity, quickly realizing I knew almost nothing about it. What I thought would be a simple transition became a crash course in humility. But I'm stubborn. I read everything, watched everything, tested everything. I learned fast because I had to.
Then, a business partnership didn't work out. Financial pressure. The easier path would've been to walk away. But after nearly 2 years of intense learning and building, I wasn't about to throw that away. So I kept going, and Nurashield was born.
Here's what drives me: the belief that cybersecurity isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. In Spain especially, most small and medium businesses don't realize they're targets until it's too late. They think enterprise-level protection is only for Fortune 500 companies.
That's exactly the mindset I want to change.
I'm building Nurashield to bring that same level of protection to everyone else—the Fortune 5,000,000. The small businesses. The local companies. People like me. And because we're built on open-source technology, we can do it affordably without sacrificing quality.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist—probably a side effect of those years making sure every single internet connection was just right. When I work with MSPs and their clients, I don't want to be just another faceless vendor who only shows up when things break. I want to be part of your team. Someone you can actually talk to.
Before anything goes to a client, I've read the documentation, tested it myself, and made sure it's going to work beautifully. Sometimes that means I'm slower to launch new features, but it also means when something goes live, it works.
I'm British by birth but Menorquín by life—I've been here since I was 2. This island is my home, and while it's easy to take it for granted when you live somewhere beautiful, I never forget how lucky I am. The nearest beach is always 10 minutes away, and the views from those rooftop installations? Still unmatched.
